Job Description
We are excited to be recruiting for a part time Post Doctoral Research Assistant to join our dedicated team. We Are The People is a small research team of disabled academics and non-disabled allies engaged in disability research and disability activism working within the South West. (This is a part-time 0.4 Fixed Term Contract until Feb 2026)
About the role
Within the role, you will undertake independent and/or collaborative research and to contribute to research strategies within the project and will work collaboratively with the wider team to support co-produced disability research projects. You will also lead studies on accessible dissemination methods for policymakers and change-makers, work collaboratively with community partners, and oversee participant recruitment and engagement.
The role involves producing high-quality, accessible research outputs, developing networks for future collaborations, and ensuring ethical and safety compliance. You'll advocate for the project through creative dissemination channels and organize end-of-project events to engage stakeholders.
An understanding of the barriers faced by disabled people and how to overcome these is essential.
About you
You will be an experienced researcher with a PhD or extensive expertise in areas like disability studies, social justice, or creative methods for researching marginalized groups. You will have a strong track record of leading research projects using qualitative, mixed, and participatory methods, producing impactful outputs, and understanding barriers faced by disabled people. Experience with co-produced research, high-profile projects, and attracting funding is essential. You will be proactive, adaptable, and skilled in collaborating with diverse partners. An understanding of the barriers faced by disabled people and how to overcome these is essential.

This is a part-time, 0.4 fixed term role until Feb 2026.
