About the role:

The Pears Cumbria School of Medicine (PCSM) is a unique partnership between Imperial College London and the University of Cumbria to establish a new medical school in Carlisle. The School will offer a four-year graduate entry programme, with the first cohort of 58 students entering in August 2025.

We seek to appoint a Senior Teaching Fellow in Prevention and Public Health to the academic team based in Carlisle, who shares our passion and commitment to designing an innovative education experience for graduate-entry medical students within an environment that promotes multi-professional learning.

What you would be doing:

The Senior Teaching Fellow will focus on teaching public health skills, including health inequalities, epidemiology of common conditions, health improvement approaches, and influencing the wider determinants of health. The role will support curriculum development, the creation of teaching materials, the establishment of assessment and monitoring processes, and the delivery of teaching and assessment from August 2025.

What we are looking for:

  • A MSc or PhD in public health, behavioural science, or similar and a demonstrable public health expertise.
  • Evidence of teaching of epidemiology, health inequalities, health service planning and public health promotion through a range of teaching styles and formats
  • Evidence of planning, design and development of curricula, learning materials and/or assessments, that promote deep learning in students with a variety of learning styles.
  • An understanding of relevant educational theory and practice relating to student learning, teaching, assessment and course design in a relevant discipline in Higher Education
