MA in Museum Studies

Applications are open for the MA in Museum Studies at Central European University (CEU) in Vienna. This two-year master’s degree is offered jointly by CEU and Vienna’s city museum, the Wien Museum. The program teaches the essentials of the profession in the museum field. It caters to students who seek a career in the museum world and want to combine hands-on, practical education with a rigorous study program in the critical humanities dedicated to the study of the past and its expressions in art, scholarship, and public discourse. With internships and local training opportunities in Vienna’s rich museum scene, this English-language program provides students with the skills, experience, and professional knowledge to engage diverse museum audiences.

Scholarships and Application Deadline

Applicants in the Museum Studies MA can apply for CEU merit-based financial aid regardless of nationality. The deadline for admission and financial aid for the 2025-26 academic year is February 4, 2025 (23:59 CET).
