Campus: Hammersmith
Contract type: Full-time, fixed term for 12 months
About the role:
The Chain Florey Predoctoral Fellowships Scheme presents clinical trainees with a unique opportunity to spend 12 months 100% WTE (or 24 months 50% WTE) in fields that range from biomedical discovery science to experimental medicine and translational clinical research at two world-renowned academic institutions, Imperial College and the Medical Research Council (MRC) Laboratory of Medical Sciences (LMS). Chain Florey Fellowships provide an ideal foundation for those wishing to pursue a career in clinical academia and offer a pathway to subsequent funding opportunities.
What you would be doing:
You will plan and conduct research, helping you refine your research interests and identify which area best aligns with your clinical background and long-term academic goals. In parallel, you will be developing research collaborations within the College, the LMS and the wider community. You will have the opportunity to develop a competitive application for submission to externally funded Clinical Research Training Fellowship schemes. You will be focusing on your research and will only undertake clinical activity if required by your specialty (usually limited to 0.2 FTE) or your research project.
What we are looking for:
You will need to demonstrate an appropriate skill base and motivation to pursue scientific research, with the desire to progress on to a PhD afterward. We encourage MBPhD graduates to apply, as we are committed to finding the best possible fit for each person’s unique circumstances. With your application, please submit a 2-page summary of your research motivation and experience to date, a full CV and a list of publications (if applicable).
What we can offer you:
Chain Florey Predoctoral Fellowships provide an ideal base for those wishing to pursue a career in clinical academia with excellent opportunities for academic progression (PhD and postdoctoral opportunities), training and mentoring. Fellows with excellent progress will have access to our Chain Florey Clinical Research Training Fellowships and become a Fellow of our Chain Florey cohort.
