We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Lecturer (Additional Learning Support) to join our team and contribute to our mission of providing exceptional education and support to our students. The ideal candidate will be experienced in working with students with specific learning difficulties, e.g. dyslexia, and supporting study skills. 

About the role

As a Lecturer (Additional Learning Support), you will be an integral part of our ALS team, responsible for carrying out assessments, access arrangements for exams, and delivering tailored teaching support. You will work across various further education and apprenticeship programs, ensuring that students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) receive the support they need to succeed.

£30,330 - £39,540 Pro rata per annum

Employer's pension contribution £7,350.97-£9,583.16 Pro rata per annum

43 days annual leave + bank holidays 

Day-to-Day Requirements:

  • Deliver individualised ALS interventions and assess students as required.
  • Conduct Access Arrangements Assessments for students and apprentices with SEND.
  • Perform Specific Learning Difficulty screenings for higher education students and provide interim support.
  • Collaborate with curriculum areas and workplaces to advise on adjustments, exam arrangements, and support plans.
  • Promote an inclusive culture across the college and foster links with external bodies.
  • Maintain records to comply with funding and audit requirements.
  • Participate in professional development activities and regular performance reviews.

Essential Criteria:

  • Relevant Degree and Teaching Qualification.
  • Level 7 qualification for Access Arrangements Assessments.
  • Experienced in supporting literacy, numeracy, language, and dyslexia within the FE and/or HE sector.
  • Knowledge of a range of learning difficulties and disabilities and how they impact learning and work.
  • Experience with innovative learning and teaching techniques.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work flexibly and adaptably.
