Department/Location: Department of History and Philosophy of Science, Central Cambridge
The Department of History and Philosophy of Science is seeking to recruit a part-time Undergraduate Administrator to join its friendly and committed Professional Services team.
The role holder will work closely with the course organisers, examiners, lecturers, Natural Science Tripos administrators and the Department's Teaching Committee to facilitate the smooth and efficient delivery of the Department's undergraduate courses. The role holder will be responsible for the administration of key areas of the student journey, including recruitment, induction, timetabling of teaching, and assessments and examinations, so must have a strong eye for detail.
The position would suit someone approachable, well-organised, reliable and self-motivated, who uses initiative to manage competing priorities and ensure key deadlines are met. The role holder will be the first point of contact for staff and students so should be able to synthesise University and Department regulations and guidelines, and communicate these with professionalism and accuracy.
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate an aptitude for IT (particularly when using spreadsheets, databases and web software) with an ability to learn University systems and processes quickly. Experience using Moodle and CamSIS is desirable, although training can be provided.
The role is grade 4 (£26,642 - £30,505 pro-rated, based on experience) and part-time (21.9 hours per week). These hours are to be spread over a minimum of three days, to be agreed with the Departmental Administrator. Attendance on site is required on Mondays and Thursdays.
Further information about the role can be found in the Further Particulars document, which you can find via a link at the bottom of the advert. In your application, please tell us how you meet the specific criteria listed in the Further Particulars (the knowledge, skills, and experience required for the role), along with relevant examples. Candidates will be shortlisted and invited to interview based upon these criteria.
