About the role

The Digital, Data & Technology Group is seeking two skilled 1st and 2nd line Desktop Engineers.

You will handle 1st and 2nd line desktop support issues as part of a Windows 11 rollout project. The organisation is broadening its IT Support and therefore support in these areas may also be required. 

Key skills required for this role

Windows 11 deployments 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Provide 1st and 2nd line desktop support to end users. 
  • Assist in the installation, configuration, and support of Windows operating systems on devices. 
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the Windows 11 deployment. 
  • Swap out devices as required and address any ongoing technical issues for users.
  • Work closely with IT teams to ensure minimal disruption during the installation process. 
  • Provide technical support and training to end users post-deployment. 
  • Support the creation of detailed deployment documentation and reports. 
  • Conduct compatibility assessments of hardware and software.
  • Collaborate with the project manager, project team and stakeholders to meet deployment deadlines. 

These roles are offered on a full time (36.5 hours per week) fixed term basis with an expected end date of 01/11/2025. 

About You

  • Proven experience in device deployments, particularly with Windows operating systems.
  • In-depth understanding of Windows deployment processes and tools. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and technical troubleshooting abilities.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Experience working with ITSM systems and reporting tools. 
  • Prior experience in the HE sector is advantageous, but not essential.
