The Southampton Clinical Trials Unit (SCTU), based at Southampton General Hospital, manages a growing portfolio of multi-centre clinical trials that will directly influence routine clinical practice for patient benefit.
SCTU manage a large number of trial designs across many clinical areas, including cancer and early diagnosis. The trials we conduct include; CTIMPs, device trials, complex intervention trials and large observational trials.
We have an exciting opportunity to work within the SCTU supporting the Early Diagnosis and Translational Group as a Trial Manager, joining the team to develop and manage one or more trials.
The successful applicant will have experience of working in clinical trials in academia, the NHS or the commercial health research sector. The successful applicant will also have excellent organisation and communication skills, a good understanding and knowledge of GCP and clinical trial regulations. Experience of sample processing, tracking and translational research would be an advantage but is not essential.
The employing organisation is the University of Southampton which offers a competitive salary, pension scheme and other benefits. The post is offered on a one year fixed term contract in the first instance with the possibility of an extension. SCTU offer the option to be fully office based at Southampton General Hospital, or a hybrid work arrangement with a minimum of 2 days per week in the office if full time.
The SCTU is part of a strong research environment in Southampton which includes the Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre, Welcome Trust Clinical Research Facility and NHS R&D Management. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with previous clinical trials experience to join a CTU which has full registration status from the UK Clinical Research Collaboration (UKCRC).
