Background
The Property & Facilities Department (PAF) is responsible for providing a safe and efficient working environment for all University staff and students. PAF manages all building services and the strategic development of the estate contributing to the delivery of City University, London’s strategic and operational objectives.
Porters are responsible for providing and maintaining a high standard of general portering and related services to the University.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include the preparation of lecture room, classrooms, communal and function areas for meetings, conference and teaching purposes, including provision of non-technical aids or materials and cleaning of writing surfaces.
You will receive and move furniture, non-specialised equipment and stores, using trolleys or other equipment as necessary.
You will take collection and safely dispose of recycling and waste refuse, and conduct messenger duties including delivery of mail and packages.
You will ensure that all public areas are kept tidy, removing furniture and waste as necessary and assisting with cleaning and maintenance if required. (NB public area include toilet facilities).
Person Specification
You must be able to carry out general lifting and cleaning duties (movement of furniture, parcel, boxes [using trolleys/barrows as required], lifting mop buckets etc).
You will occasionally work at heights & use a ladder. You will be responsible, reliable, trustworthy and punctual and work well as part of a team.
You will have good customer service skills and be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
