About the Role:
We are looking for a Development Manager to join our fundraising team in the Development Team at ARU. We're looking to appoint an individual who shares in our passion for philanthropy, and the difference higher education and our community of supporters can make for our students, researchers and academics.

The Development Manager is responsible for building and managing relationships which add significant philanthropic income to the University. You'll be joining a small but dedicated and enthusiastic fundraising team where you will be personally responsible for managing a portfolio of individual relationships. You'll cultivate, solicit and manage a portfolio of existing and new potential major donor prospects, corporates and CIC’s, including holding regular face-to-face meetings.

You'll have a degree and evidence of CPD relevant to the role, or you'll be part qualified in a relevant professional qualification. You'll be an experienced philanthropy professional, with a track record of securing gifts at five figure and above level.

Preferably you'll have experience of the HE Sector, but there is potential for an experienced fundraiser with transferable skills who can confidently make the transition from the charity sector. You need to be an effective and inspiring relationship builder, well organised, an excellent communicator, attentive to detail, and able to think on your feet.

Whatever your background, you'll need to be able to demonstrate an understanding of philanthropy and what motivates major donors, alongside the appetite and aptitude to new relationships from scratch, as well as stewarding existing supporters.
