We are seeking to recruit a full-time Senior Library Assistant. Acquisitions and Subscriptions are separate teams within the Collections and Academic Services Group, who work together, whose function is to provide a wide range of content via different platforms and models to LSE Library users.

This role involves work with both teams, with the division of duties dependent on when demands for the services provided by each are in higher demand, associated with teaching, learning, and research cycles throughout the academic year.

The postholder is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Library’s current electronic, digital, and print acquisitions and subscriptions. They also supervise the work of library assistants in the teams.  Working with colleagues across the Library, they also contribute to maintenance of metadata for online resources, collect information and usage reports, and trouble-shoot access enquiries. They handle the financial processing of these resources, and additionally they work with the Library’s Open Research Services team on the payment of article processing charges.

You will be educated to ‘A’ level or equivalent, have a high level of IT literacy, preferably also with experience of journal and/or e-resource subscription administration, or acquisitions of print, electronic, and digital content in a higher education library. You should be an excellent communicator with a proven ability to relate to a wide range of users and academic colleagues. You will be able to work on your own initiative as well as being an effective team member, and will have the ability to train, supervise and motivate other team members.
