Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Psychology

The University of Hong Kong - Department of Psychology

Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology (Ref: 530604), to commence on August 1, 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter, on a three-year fixed-term basis with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.

As the first psychology department in Hong Kong, established in 1968, our department has a rich history of academic excellence. Ranked 3rd in Asia and 34th worldwide in the 2024 QS World University Ranking in the subject of Psychology, our 20 faculty members and over 100 research postgraduates and postdoctoral fellows actively engage in a wide range of research areas, including clinical psychology/neuropsychology, cognitive psychology/cognitive science, neuroscience, educational and developmental psychology, as well as social/health psychology. Our department offers comprehensive undergraduate, taught postgraduate, MPhil, and PhD programs in psychology. We also support open science and strive for high integrity, trustworthy, replicable and reproducible research. We value diverse research methodologies. Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Psychology or related fields, with a demonstrated track record of research and teaching. The appointee is expected to maintain an active research programme, and be responsible for teaching courses and supervising students at both graduate and undergraduate levels, as well as contributing to the administration of the Department and academic programmes. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract- end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
