Situated within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, the Discipline of Nutrition, Exercise, Chronobiology & Sleep at Surrey is one of the UK's foremost academic nutritional sciences centres, with a multidisciplinary group of 30 academic staff. The Nutritional Sciences Team were awarded the 2017/2018 Queens Anniversary Prize for its teaching and research in the area of Food & Nutrition for Health. Dietetics at Surrey is world-renowned and continues to be ranked highly in national tables, with 94% student satisfaction in the 2024 National Student Survey. The University has just announced the launch of our new Food & Nutrition Lab, which is fully equipped teaching and research facility, with state-of-the-art cooking and food preparation for our food, nutrition and dietetics work.
The role
We are actively seeking a HCPC Registered Dietitian for a full time Lecturer A or B post for a period of 12 months (maternity cover) as Lead for our Dietetic Placements. Your role will be to lead on the co-ordination and delivery of practice placements for all Nutrition & Dietetic students in line with HCPC and BDA regulations, as well as providing training and support for placement providers. The successful candidate will also lead on placement provider network meetings and provide support & guidance to Placement Providers and Students during all placement periods, including if there are progression difficulties. You will contribute to teaching at undergraduate level and contribute to Faculty/Discipline management and administration as appropriate.
About you
The successful applicant will be expected to have several years of dietetic experience, but there is flexibility with regards to experience and hours for the right combination of skills. An enthusiasm for teaching is essential, and experience in teaching would be an advantage, with a view to developing teaching methods, materials and technologies to enhance the student learning experience. Pastoral support is an important part of our work at the University, and you will act as a personal tutor for undergraduate (and possibly postgraduate) students.
