The purpose of the role is to be the Administrative Assistant for the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute and Department of Haematology and provide high quality administrative support to senior Principal Investigators and the Business and Operations Manager. Delivery of these objectives will come by providing a high-quality, proactive, effective support service.
This role will be based on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus. We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements.
The role holder will primarily provide PA/secretarial support to a defined group of Senior PIs (Professorial level) and administrative support where needed to other Institute/Department activities. They will act as the first point of contact for all staff enquiries. This entails interactions with a wide variety of external contacts including: other institutions, eminent scientists, sponsors and other University Departments. The role holder has a wide range of responsibility and decision making in providing secretarial support to Senior PIs, including monitoring expenditure (expense claims and credit card payments, answering queries and preparing responses in absence).
Prioritisation and initiative are required including responding to a range of enquires. The role holder ensures that Senior PIs and admin sub-team leads are kept informed of all issues, and deals with day-to-day issues on behalf of them such as responding to emails/telephone calls; communicating information to individuals/other departments as necessary. The role holder is also responsible for managing extremely complex diaries and appointment schedules.
