Do you want to join a team to develop next-generation artificial intelligence devices based on nanoscale magnetic and spintronic technology?
We are seeking an experimentally focused post-doctoral Research Associate for a 24-month post joining a cross-disciplinary team of researchers as part of the EPSRC-funded projects, “MARCH: Magnetic Architectures for Reservoir Computing Hardware” and “Spintronic Reservoir Fusion”. These projects seek to utilise cutting-edge nanoscale magnetic devices as embodied reservoir computers and explore how they can be combined into multi-device architectures that can handle challenging real-world tasks, such as processing EEG signals, classifying wearable sensor data and identifying locations from video footage. This will represent a substantial advance over the state-of-the-art, which has focused on simple, proof-of-concept tasks with individual magnetic devices, and will make a major step towards creating real-world technology.
You will lead our experimental work to fabricate devices and applying them to machine learning using a range of high-throughput electrical, optical and radio-frequency measurement tools. You will work closely with project members in the School of Computer Science to construct datasets of experimental system measurements and develop a digital twin framework for simulating device responses. You will also have the opportunity to develop new skills relating to machine learning and artificial intelligence.
We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.
We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
