About the role

The University of Leicester is seeking an ambitious and talented Lecturer in Healthcare Management to join our School of Management. In this role, you will contribute to our world-class research profile by developing a robust portfolio in healthcare management, publishing in leading journals, and securing external funding. You will also engage with policymakers, businesses, and other stakeholders to drive impactful research that supports societal and economic wellbeing. You will be a member of the new Research Centre for Healthcare Innovation, Policy and Management, Co-Directors Professor Gregory Maniatopoulos and Dr Gemma Hughes.

Teaching will be central to your role, delivering high-quality and innovative sessions to undergraduate, postgraduate, and distance-learning students. You will contribute to curriculum development, ensuring it remains relevant and inclusive, and provide supervision to postgraduate researchers. Your commitment to student success will enhance the learning experience and support the School’s reputation for educational excellence.

Beyond research and teaching, you will play a key role in the School’s administration and wider strategic initiatives. This includes contributing to student recruitment and retention, representing the University externally, and participating in leadership and mentoring within the department. This is a varied role with significant opportunities to shape the future of healthcare management education and research.

About you

To excel in this role, you will hold a PhD (completed or near completion) in a relevant discipline, such as Management, social sciences, or health sciences, and have expertise in healthcare management. Your knowledge of the UK NHS and social care systems, combined with experience in healthcare-related teaching or research, will be critical to your success. You will have an emerging publication record in internationally recognised journals and a research agenda that aligns with the School’s strategic priorities.

As an engaging educator, you will have a proven ability to deliver effective teaching using innovative and diverse methods. Strong communication and interpersonal skills will enable you to inspire students and work collaboratively with colleagues. A commitment to excellence and inclusivity will underpin your approach to teaching, research, and engagement activities. Experience in distance learning, funded research, or industry partnerships would be desirable but not essential.
