Deputy Vice-Chancellor

University of South Wales

The University of South Wales (USW) is innovative, thriving, and sustainable. We work to build better futures for our students, our communities and our partners economically, socially, and culturally.

We are poised to make bold change, but true to our mission and purpose. The higher education sector is clearly facing challenges, but we are well advanced in our thinking about how to respond so that we can deliver our 2030 Strategy, transforming lives and our world for the better. To do that, we need also to transform ourselves and find new ways of working, teaching and researching that are impactful but sustainable. So, in change, we see opportunity. We understand that we need to be different and we accept that challenge fully.

Working closely with the Vice-Chancellor and operating as a critical member of the University Executive team, our new Deputy Vice-Chancellor will provide strategic leadership, direction, academic leadership and operational oversight across the University and the wider USW group. The portfolio includes leadership responsibility for our academic faculties and functions including the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching and our Future Students department.

We are driving forward significant long-term transformation to deliver our 2030 Strategy and the Deputy Vice Chancellor will lead programmes to embed our 2030 Curriculum Principles centred on Challenge Based Learning and our new delivery models around block and flexible delivery, building our talent pool of academic staff to lead and run a University that is for and of the future.

We will be wholehearted and unequivocal in these changes being delivered to their fullest extent to build differentiation. And we will be a beating heart in our place, enriching our economy and the lives of its people.
