Who we need

We are seeking a passionate, motivated Development Worker to join our Foundation Learning team at Adams Campus. This role requires initiative and drive. Key duties include:

  • Assist the curriculum manager in supporting 16–19-year-olds with low engagement and achievement.
  • Help identify and address safeguarding and Prevent concerns, liaising internally and externally for necessary support.
  • Promote improved behaviour and attendance by tracking and sharing student information and intervening as needed.
  • Provide pastoral support, working with students, parents, and teachers to address issues and implement actionable support plans.
  • Support student transitions, progression, and retention, including contributing to progression reviews.

What you’ll bring

You will be organised, proactive, and ready for a challenge, demonstrating professionalism and sensitivity with confidential information. You'll work closely with learners to ensure the Foundation Learning programme is inclusive and fosters a positive learning environment. Key skills and experience include:

  • Awareness of social and cultural pressures on young people from diverse backgrounds
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • Experience using IT in support or admin roles
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and spoken)
  • Confident in handling emergency situations (behaviour/mental health)
  • Minimum 2 years' experience working with young people (16-25) from diverse backgrounds (desirable)
