Our University’s core purpose is to deliver world-class research, innovation and education.  We do this by working as One University. Our pillars of One University that support us in our vision are, Collaborative & Supportive Culture, Diversity & Inclusion, Wellbeing, Sustainability and Philanthropy.

At The University of Sheffield, we seek to create an organisational culture and working environment that is conducive to positive wellbeing and mental health and where everyone can thrive. An environment, where colleagues feel empowered, managers feel confident and capable and where clear routes of relevant and practical support is available where needed. We have recently been awarded the Student Minds Mental Health Charter award and we launched our One University Mental Health Strategy and Action plan earlier this year.

The Staff Mental Health Adviser Service is the go-to service for colleagues seeking guidance and support in relation to their mental health, this service sits alongside our Staff Disability Adviser Service within the Staff Wellbeing Team.

You will be an experienced, qualified mental health professional, who can provide specialist support to colleagues experiencing mental health difficulties across the mental health continuum. You will provide holistic assessment, interventions and support for staff mental health needs. You will utilise resources and expertise available from within both the University and specialist external organisations and support services.

Additionally, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the creation of an inclusive working environment and workplace culture, in which mental health is openly discussed and supported.  As an internal expert, you will also provide guidance and advice to managers and HR colleagues on the management of mental health needs and risk.

It is anticipated that the selection process will take place during the week beginning 16th December 2024. This will consist of an interview.  Please note the successful candidate must be available to start as soon as possible in the New Year 2025, and certainly no later than mid-February 2024.

We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.

We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
