Apprenticeship Delivery Lead

University of East London – Quality Assurance and Enhancement (QAE)

University of East London

Founded in 1898, we at the University of East London (UEL) are proud to change lives through education. Our goal is to advance industry 5.0 careers-first education and provide a clear path to the jobs and opportunities of the future. We’re committed to driving diversity in the 5.0 talent pipeline, working in partnership to promote talent wherever it is found and creating a balanced, inclusive, and green future.

But we can't achieve this goal alone. We need forward-thinking, innovative, and curious individuals like you to join our community and help us craft our future. As part of our team, you'll have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of people who share your passion for creating positive change. We’re an inclusive and welcoming community that is constantly moving forward, never satisfied with the status quo.

About Us

Following successful Ofsted full inspections in 2023/24 which confirmed the quality of UEL apprenticeships as ‘Good’ across all areas, as well as ‘Outstanding’ for primary teacher apprenticeships, we are committed to the achievement and maintenance of ‘Outstanding’ status in all future inspections and to maximising the impact of apprenticeships in meeting the strategic objectives of UEL’s Vision 2028.  To do this we have established the Apprenticeship Unit.

About the Job

The Apprenticeship Delivery Lead is responsible for the new Apprenticeships Unit and overseeing operation of the institution-wide delivery strategy to support UEL’s thriving and growing apprenticeship provision.  As the Apprenticeship Delivery Lead you will take responsibility for leading activities to implement apprenticeship quality and compliance processes in accordance with Ofsted, ESFA, OfS, IfATE and PSRB requirements, and ensure these are communicated to relevant stakeholders,

You will also lead UEL’s Apprenticeship Professional Services Network and line manage the apprenticeship coaches.

The Apprenticeship Delivery Lead is supported by and reports to both the Dean of Professional Academic Compliance and the Head of Quality Assurance and Enhancement; this enables the role to support delivery of the University’s strategic objectives for apprenticeship academic quality and regulatory compliance.

The post offers an exciting opportunity to work in a busy and varied academic environment and is based at our Docklands Campus with hybrid working available.

About You

Preferably educated to degree level, the successful candidate will have experience of leading apprenticeship provision and an in-depth knowledge of apprenticeship quality and compliance standards. You will have up to date understanding of Ofsted, ESFA, OfS and PSRB requirements relating to apprenticeship provision.

You will have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, an ability to lead and engage others and a proactive approach. You will be expected to form strong working relationships with key stakeholders and be an authoritative point of contact on apprenticeship delivery, quality and compliance.
