A postdoctoral research associate position is available to study how signalling filopodia, or cytonemes, on Drosophila ovarian germline stem cells collect and transduce the BMP signal to control self-renewal. This project will build on our progress in this area (Wilcockson and Ashe, Dev Cell 2019) by using cutting-edge live imaging and exploiting the tractability of Drosophila to explore the behaviour and functionality of these signalling filopodia. The successful applicant will join Hilary Ashe’s lab to work on this BBSRC funded project. You should hold a PhD in a biological science, be highly motivated and have an interest in developmental signalling. The position is available for 1 year.
