Duties
Teach and supervise students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including BA, MA, MPhil and PhD; undertake research and administrative duties in academic programmes and student activities.
Requirements
A PhD in History with competence in undertaking research and teaching in East Asian history, Southeast Asian history, Cold War history, and non-China-related historical studies. The prospective candidate is expected to teach the following courses, namely “Discovering China from a Global Perspective”, “Urban History of China, American History from a Global Perspective”, “Global Networks and Cultural Identity”, “Chinese Historical Methods”, “History of Chinese Historiography”, or “Chinese Cultural History”, and to submit a sample course syllabus for review by the selection committee.
Applicants who are interested in interdisciplinary studies and possess substantial experience in academic or research institutions are welcome. Preference will be given to the candidate with relevant teaching/professional background, strong research and administrative ability, and a proven record of publications. Proficiency in both Chinese and English are essential for instructional duties.
The candidate for Assistant Professor should have exhibited promise in impactful publications and grant acquisition.
The candidate for Associate Professor should have demonstrated a history of high-impact publications and grants, along with the ability/potential to develop a research field independently.
The candidate for Chair Professor and Professor is expected to showcase exceptional research/grant achievements and possess an international standing.
Salary and Conditions of Service
Remuneration package will be driven by market competitiveness and individual performance. Excellent fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes, and relocation assistance (where applicable). Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract.
