Background
We are seeking an Associate Professor to direct and lead the delivery of our new MSc AI and Government programme at our Dubai campus. This is an exciting opportunity to shape and develop a cutting-edge programme at the intersection of artificial intelligence and public governance in one of the world's most dynamic regions.
The successful candidate will take a leadership role in delivering core modules covering the governance and politics of AI, including ethical implications, policy frameworks, and both technical and organisational aspects of AI implementation in the public sector. They will supervise dissertation projects that address real-world challenges in AI governance, with particular emphasis on applications relevant to the Gulf region and Global South.
The role offers the opportunity to build strong relationships with government institutions and other stakeholders in the region, contributing to the programme's development and impact. We welcome applications from candidates on either Education or Research & Education pathways.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in both political science and artificial intelligence, with a strong track record of teaching and leadership in higher education. Experience in or knowledge of the Gulf region would be advantageous.
The School of Government comprises Political Science and International Studies, Public Administration and Policy, and International Development departments. As one of the largest Schools of Government in the UK, we have over 111 academic staff and over 2000 students across all levels.
The School of Government is intellectually vibrant with an excellent record in both research and teaching.
