Corvinus University of Budapest has over a 100-year-old history and is one of the leading universities in Hungary in Business and Management, Economics, and Social Sciences.

The Institute of Social and Political Sciences is looking for an Assistant Professor position for 3 years definite period.

The starting date is autumn semester 2025.

Key duties:

  • Teaching duties:
  • Research duties:
    • Cutting-edge research on one of the following fields: comparative political economy with a strong profile in economic and political transitions, democratisation and autocratisation; economic and political cycles and crises; 20th-century European history, with an emphasis on Eastern-Central Europe, theories of state and constitutions, territorial politics, national and sub-national politics, politics and governance
  • Service duties:
    • Fostering the research culture of the institute by mentoring colleagues and extending the international network of the institute

Essential criteria:

  • Doctorate;
  • At least 3 years of teaching and research experience gained in higher education, or at least 3 years of professional experience
  • Knowledge, experience, and foreign language skills in the discipline of the courses
  • Research achievement, regular domestic and international publications
  • The candidate must meet the job requirements set out in the Corvinus Academic Career Model.

Desirable criteria:

  • Feedback (student evaluation, evaluation of direct supervisor) verifying teaching excellence
  • International teaching experience
  • Experience gained in international research projects including ongoing research, publications under review, project proposal in progress
  • Experience in organisation of research projects
  • Participation in domestic and international conferences
  • Considerable publication results
  • PhD obtained at a university with remarkable international ranking (ARWU)
