ABOUT THE POSITION

For this position, the ideal candidate will be an interdisciplinary scholar with specific research and teaching interests in corporate sustainability and environmental management. This includes managerial and (inter-)organizational activities, processes, or approaches which can help organizations achieve decarbonation and other environmental goals by taking constructive measures to reduce emissions, waste, pollution and biodiversity-related impacts; anticipating the environmental impacts of their activities and complying with environmental regulations; and finding positive ways to create sustainable value through environmental improvements.

Research will be a strong focus of the selected candidate, who is expected to contribute to and inspire the vibrant research community at IESEG through a commitment to research excellence. Applicants should hold a PhD (or be close to obtaining it). Applicants for the position of Assistant Professor are expected to have the potential to secure publications in top-tier refereed journals in the near future. For an appointment at the Associate level, applicants are required to have (a) a strong publication record in top-tier refereed journals listed in the AJG/ABS list, a solid pipeline of work, and evidence of research impact; (b) good networks in academia. Candidates demonstrating grant application ability and willingness to attract public and/or corporate funding to support the development of ambitious research projects are encouraged to apply.

In terms of teaching, the selected candidate will teach courses in environmental management and corporate sustainability/business & society at the undergraduate, graduate and/or postgraduate level. In addition, the selected candidate will contribute to the development of the Department’s programs. As such, we are looking for candidates with strong teaching skills, and who are fluent in English, as most courses are taught in this language. For an appointment at the Associate level, applicants are required to have extensive higher education teaching experience. Although not required, active working knowledge of French is considered an asset. For this position, the ability and willingness to interact with managers and the local (and international) ecosystems are indeed valued.

Finally, we are looking for candidates who embody our core values of Accomplishment, Responsibility, Integrity, Solidarity, and Engagement, and fit our diverse and international culture in which over 50 nationalities are represented. IÉSEG places tremendous value on diversity and inclusion, and we therefore encourage applications from all backgrounds. Underrepresented groups in academia (notably women, minority ethnic groups, people identifying as LGBTQIA+, people with a (non-)visible disability, and people from lower socio-economic backgrounds and/or economically developing countries) are particularly encouraged to apply, as we are highly committed to ensuring that IÉSEG reflects and benefits from the diversity present in society.
