The University welcomes applications for permanent posts across the Grade 7 Lecturer scale, dependent on qualifications and experience, within the School of Engineering in areas relating to Aerospace Engineering with particular focus on Low Carbon Aerospace Propulsion Systems.

We seek to appoint candidates with potential to become world leading researchers in Low Carbon Aerospace Propulsion Systems, with a passion to make substantial contribution to exciting delivery and syllabus development at undergraduate and postgraduate level. We would particularly like to hear from early career academics with interests in any of the following areas:

  • Low Carbon, Sustainable Aerospace Systems with a focus on:
    • Novel propulsion systems such as hypersonic propulsion with reduced emissions;
    • Advanced rocket propulsion for low-carbon space launch or distributed electric propulsion;
    • Novel aerospace vehicles, including electric, hydrogen, or reusable launch vehicles.
  •  Propulsion systems optimisation for reduced emissions including:
    • Combustion and non-CO2 emissions, fuel alternatives and sustainable fuels;
    • Thermodynamic cycle innovations that increase efficiency and reduce emissions.

The research of the successful candidate may be at the fundamental stage or more translationally focused on applications, with an expectation to deliver world-leading research and clear pathways to impact.
