Job Summary:
As a core member of the facilities team, the post holder will be responsible for carrying out a range of building maintenance and facilities support tasks. This includes supporting the current buildings occupied by Experimental Psychology, assisting the Buildings, Facilities and Decant Project Manager with the preparations for the move to the new state-of-the-art Life and Mind building (LaMB) in Summer 2025 and the decommissioning of our current buildings for handover to new occupants.
About the Role
As Facilities Support Assistant you will deliver excellent customer service to building users, working within our small facilities team. You will build strong relationships with the University’s estates team to ensure information is shared effectively and work requests are completed and recorded as required. You will be responsible for carrying out basic repairs and maintenance to buildings and equipment, adhereing to health and safety best practice. Your role will include surveying of existing assets ensuring departmental records are accurate and up to date. You will oversee the secure disposal of confidential documents, equipment, non-hazardous materials, WEEE, hard drives and batteries, and support the Building, Facilities and Decant Project Manager with such disposals in the lead up to the move to the LaMB. You will play an integral part in supporting the move process to the LaMB, working closely with the team to prepare colleagues for the move, assist in the reloction and support the decommissioning of current buildings once the move has been completed.
About You
We are looking for a team member with excellent customer service skills ideally gained in a similar building maintenance/projects role. The ability to take an organsied approach to work will be needed, as is using your own initiative to make decisions and complete the task at hand. You will use Microsoft Office and maintain databases so computer literacy is a must.
