About the role:
Applications are invited for the post of Clinical Research Fellow in Artificial Intelligence as applied to Surgery. The focus of this interdisciplinary project is the development of an AI tool for the early detection of surgical-site infections (SSIs). You will work with engineers and data scientists to optimise detection algorithms using publicly available datasets, followed by the collection of high-quality clinical data to further refine the tool. The project will also involve exploring sensing technologies and using digital photography to improve input variables for the AI tool.
Clinical duties will include participating in the on-call rota at Charing Cross Hospital. The appointed Fellow will work under the supervision of Mr Mikael Sodergren and a team of researchers to develop innovative diagnostic tools for surgery. The post also offers the opportunity to work towards a higher research degree (MD / MPhil-PhD).
