The Division of Health Research (DHR) within Lancaster University’s Faculty of Health and Medicine is seeking to appoint a Sue Ryder Senior Research Fellow in Palliative Care, to work as part of the International Observatory on End of Life Care (IOELC) and in partnership with Sue Ryder.
The post holder will develop a research agenda for research activity focusing upon palliative care and bereavement research in conjunction with IOELC and Sue Ryder. This is an exciting opportunity to take up a senior post within a world-leading palliative care research centre, in conjunction with a major provider of palliative and bereavement care services. The role will involve developing a research portfolio of relevant externally funded research commensurate with the strategic direction of both IOELC and Sue Ryder. This is an ideal opportunity to work flexibly across a number of different areas, build research skills, enable implementation of findings, and participate in the research of an internationally renowned group.
You must have a PhD in a relevant discipline and experience of leading research in palliative care environments. You should have experience of applying for and holding research grant awards, advanced competence in research methods, and a strong publication record evidenced by high quality peer reviewed publications and experience of presentations at national and international conferences. We are looking for an adaptive and motivated, self-directed and committed individual with an interest in becoming a key part of our end of life research team.
The International Observatory on End of Life Care conducts high quality cutting edge research and provides innovative educational programmes to improve palliative and end of life care for patients and family members. See www.lancaster.ac.uk/fhm/research/ioelc/. Sue Ryder is a leading UK based palliative care and bereavement support charity. They aim to make sure that everyone approaching the end of life or living with grief can access the support they need. See https://www.sueryder.org/.
The Faculty provides an environment that strongly supports the individual needs of each employee, promoting a healthy work-life balance. We are committed to family-friendly and flexible working policies on an individual basis, as well as the Athena SWAN Charter, which recognises and celebrates good employment practice undertaken to address gender equality in higher education.
The position is available for immediate start and we are open to discussing job share opportunities/part-time working and flexible working arrangements including working week and days/hours worked, flexible start and finish times or condensed hours. We welcome applications from those of the global majority under-represented within the Division.
