Introduction: Applications are invited for the October 2025 PhD Programme at the Brahmal Institute, a new collaborative research centre at Imperial College to enable blue-sky thinking addressing the adverse environmental impacts of aviation. The successful candidates will join a vibrant world-leading research community that was that was recently assessed in the Research Excellence Framework to have the highest proportion of pioneering researchers in the UK and is building a sustainable future at the heart of London. All PhD projects fall under Aircraft Design, Operations, and the Natural Environment.
Objectives: Within this unique programme, accepted applicants will be considered for a range of projects concerning Aircraft Design, Operations, and the Natural Environment. The projects will emphasize innovative computational modelling, will aim to reduce environmental impact beyond fuel efficiency, and will provide actionable insights to improve aircraft design or operations for a greener aviation sector.
