Pre-Undergraduate Instructors

Asian University for Women is the first of its kind: an independent, regional institution dedicated to excellence, women’s education, and leadership development – global in outlook, but rooted in the contexts and aspirations of the people of Asia. 

Founded in 2008, and located in Chittagong, Bangladesh, Asian University for Women (AUW) exists to educate and empower a rising network of women leaders from across Asia and the Middle East. Through its distinctive liberal arts and sciences curriculum, AUW develops change-makers and innovative thinkers who address social, political, and economic issues and promote gender equality. 

Open to women from all walks of life, AUW particularly encourages women who are the first in their family to get a university education. The AUW model creates a new paradigm in improving access, equity, and quality education for women in difficult circumstances, including those resulting from displacement, conflict, and poverty.

Job Duties:

The Pre-Undergraduate (Pre-UG) program at AUW, is an intensive preparatory program that fosters English communication skills, and critical thinking skills, and develops strategies for life-long learning. Pre-UG courses build students’ skills in core competencies such as academic English (reading, writing, listening, and speaking), Mathematics, and Computer Science.

As an instructor in the Pre-UG program, your responsibilities are as follows:

Classroom Instruction: Teach 9-15 contact hours as assigned by the Director of Pre-UG programs.

Other commitments include office hours, learning center tutoring and participation in university activities and outreach.

URGENT NEED: We are anticipating a large influx of Afghan women enrolling at AUW this January. We urgently need instructors to support this intake.

Compensation:

• Stipend of US$1,000 paid monthly
• Round trip airfare to and from Chittagong
• Visa fees reimbursed upon arrival
• Health insurance/services
• A shared furnished faculty apartment
• Free access to dining halls

• Bachelor’s Degree Required
• Native-like English fluency
• Experience teaching preferred
• Experience working abroad preferred
• Experience working with vulnerable populations preferred
