The Department of Pure Mathematics and Mathematical Statistics invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position funded by a Horizon Europe Advanced Grant (underwritten by UKRI) which is held by Professor Pierre Raphael.

The successful candidate will work on the research project 'Singularities for Waves and Turbulent Flows (SWAT)' which brings together a highly competitive team of leading experts to address some of the key challenges on singularity formation. Applicants should have an interest in exploring one or more of the following areas: singularity formation and long-time behaviour for non-linear parabolic or dispersive problems, multisolitons dynamics, growth of Sobolev norms with applications to weak turbulence or fluid mechanics, singularity formation or long-time dynamics for fluid dynamics.

Duties include developing and conducting individual and collaborative research objectives, proposals and projects. The role holder will be expected to plan and manage their own research and administration, with guidance if required, and to assist in the preparation of proposals and applications to external bodies. You must be able to communicate material of a technical nature and be able to build internal and external contacts. You may be asked to assist in the supervision of student projects, the development of student research skills, provide instruction or plan/deliver seminars relating to the research area.

Applicants should have (or be about to obtain) a PhD in a relevant field, a strong research track record, and may have previous postdoctoral experience.
