Type of Contract: Full-time, Funding-limited from 01 March 2025 to 30 June 2026
The Epidemiology Group (www.abdn.ac.uk/epidemiology) runs and hosts the UK Antimicrobial Registry (www.abdn.ac.uk/ukar). Funded by, and working with, the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (www.bsac.org.uk) this registry is designed to answer a broad set of research questions around novel anti-microbial agents and will, ultimately, contribute to the fight against antimicrobial resistance.
We are looking to recruit an analyst to work on the registry. The successful candidate will work closely with the Chief Investigators and other members of the study team and will produce statistical reports important for the running of the registry, take the lead on main registry analysis, and produce and present written/oral output based on this analysis. They may be required, occasionally, to work on other studies, but their primary responsibility will be to the UKAR.
The successful candidate is likely to come from a numerical/statistics/data science background, ideally working in epidemiology, applied health sciences, health services research, or a related discipline. They will have experience of analysing epidemiological studies or randomised controlled trials and have an excellent understanding of the research governance requirements of the same.
The successful candidate will have a PhD (or be very close to completion) with a demonstrable track-record of working with large-scale epidemiological cohorts and/or health registries, and knowledge of the pertinent methodological issues involved. They will have experience of working with a wide range of people, including study coordinators, programmers, NHS consultants and research nurses.
The post is a full-time position based in Aberdeen.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 6 scale, £37,999 - £39,105 per annum and negotiable with placement according to qualifications and experience.
Informal enquiries should be made to:
Professor Gareth Jones or Professor Gary Macfarlane
Prior to employment, the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate their right to work in the UK. This role may be eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route under the UKVI immigration rules but is dependent on factors specific to the candidate and if tradeable points can be used under the rules.
