About the role
UCL Department of Political Science wishes to appoint a fixed term leave cover, Associate Lecturer (Teaching) in Political Theory. The Associate Lecturer is expected to deliver a single module in Term 2 of academic year 2024-25: POLS0100 Global Justice. They may also be asked to second mark one module delivered by another member of staff. The role will include lecture and seminar teaching, student experience and support activity, and personal tutoring. The post holder will be expected to first and second mark assignments and will also be expected to be available for office hours each week as required. The appointed candidate will be provided with all required module materials, including reading lists, essay questions, seminar plans, and lecture slides. The post holder will also be expected to be hold office hours each week during te rm time. The appointment is covering leave taken by permanent staff, and will run from 1 January 2025 to 30 June 2025 (6 months) at 0.30 FTE. The salary on offer is grade 7 between £46,546 - £51,610 inclusive of London Allowance.
About you
We are seeking applicants who hold a PHD in Political Science or related subject, or are current enrolled in a PhD programme in Political Science or related subject, that have excellent knowledge of academic literature and methods relevant to teaching the content of the described module. Applicants should be able to communicate clearly with students and be able to provide support with compassion. Experience in teaching relevant subjects at the undergraduate or postgraduate taught level is desirable.
