KTP Associate, Research Scientist (Software Engineering and AI)

Full time: 35.25 hours per week

Fixed Term: 36 months

This Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project between the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) and Booth Welsh aims to modernise and automate engineering workflows. The project will involve developing advanced cloud-native software and integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) to streamline operations, improve productivity, and optimise team interactions across various departments at Booth Welsh. These advancements will drive innovation in workflow automation, significantly enhancing efficiency in system engineering and control processes. This initiative will enhance Booth Welsh's technological capabilities and solidify its position as a leader in digital engineering solutions.

The successful candidate should have the following:

  • Minimum MSc/MEng in Computing Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields.
  • Experience in test-driven, cloud-native and agile software development methodologies, software documentation, commercialisation, version control, IP, technical writing, and user training.
  • Experience in Python, Java, C/C++; hands-on experience in database management systems (e.g., MySQL); Large Language Models with proven track record in developing and implementing feature extraction and classification and data visualisation algorithms.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills, with an ability to present complex information in an accessible way.
