Starting salary from £47,874 per annum dependent on skills and experience, with an annual increment up to £55,295 per annum.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer in Criminology to join the UEA Law School, to contribute to the development and delivery of our new BA Criminology programme which began in 2024/25 and our existing LLB Law with Criminology offering.

You will play a key role in the design and delivery of new modules, plan and deliver high quality teaching, contribute to the administration of both programmes, and help the school grow its Criminology offering. In due course, there may also be opportunities to contribute to postgraduate teaching and supervise dissertations.

You must have a PhD (or equivalent professional experience) in a relevant subject and experience of providing high quality teaching in Criminology.

This full-time post is available from 1 April 2025 on an indefinite basis.

The school is based in our historic Earlham Hall building, which has been significantly renovated and extended to create excellent work and study spaces.  This includes a purpose-built Law Clinic where free legal advice is provided by our students to some of the most vulnerable in the local community, in partnership with Norfolk Community Law Service. The space is also used to run our Justice Project, where students work on cases of alleged miscarriages of justice.

UEA offers a variety of flexible working options and although this role is advertised on a full-time basis, we encourage applications from individuals who would prefer a flexible working pattern including annualised hours, part-time, job share, term-time only and/or hybrid working. Details of preferred hours should be stated in the personal statement and will be discussed further at interview.

Further information on our great benefits package, including 44 days annual leave inclusive of Bank Holidays and additional University Customary days (pro rata for part-time), can be found on our benefits page.

Closing date: 25 November 2024

We have a strong commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion here at UEA’s Law School and we use positive action to remove barriers and issues to employment for under-represented groups, whilst still appointing people on merit and treating all applicants fairly and in accordance with current legislation. We particularly welcome applicants from Black, Asian or other minority ethnic backgrounds for this post.

The University holds an Athena Swan Silver Institutional Award in recognition of our advancement towards gender equality.
