Due to expansion of our degree programmes in Musical Theatre and Actor Musicianship we are seeking to appoint a Repetiteur/Musical Director who will work across programmes in the School of Performance. The postholder will report to the Head of Musical Theatre and will act as a repetiteur, coaching students on the preparation of vocal material for classes and productions, attend one-to-one singing lessons when available in consultation with Tutors/Programme Leaders/Head of Musical Theatre and make simple backing track/vocal guide recordings to support student learning and for use in timetabled classes/rehearsals where an accompanist is not available.
You will support the development of students through accompanying dance and song classes, assisting in the learning of song repertoire, acting as an accompanist for auditions, and acting as Musical Director for small and larger scale Musical Theatre productions. In addition, you will contribute to curriculum innovation, development, and implementation supporting the Head of Musical Theatre and Programme Leaders during the development of the Foundation and Undergraduate programmes, including contributing to the process of researching, selecting appropriate materials, musical advice and guidance.
The ideal candidate will have a degree or equivalent professional qualification in music performance and will have experience of working as a Musical Director, arranger and/or composer delivering conservatoire level professional training with strong links with the creative industries. You will have a good knowledge of musical theatre repertoire including the ability to work with vocalists and instrumentalists, edit and arrange music and sight-read piano scores to accompany vocalists. Experience of working with digital audio workstations is essential. Experience of working in Higher Education would be advantageous.
As a new colleague you will join a thriving creative community and learning environment, working with inspiring students and supportive colleagues. The successful applicant will contribute to the ongoing development of vocational learning, practice, and scholarship within LIPA.
In return we offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience, generous pension, and holiday entitlements, complimentary tickets to our inhouse productions, and the opportunity to become part of our unique international community of creatives, performers, technicians, managers, and film makers.
This is a permanent post to commence as soon as possible.
