This is an exciting opportunity to be contribute to the St Mary’s Endurance Performance Centre (EPC) as a qualified Assistant Performance Coach, with experience of developing endurance athletes. An important part of the Centre’s development is as an England Athletics Talent Hub, and this is supported by St Mary’s becoming a TASS Delivery Site. You will work collaboratively with the Centre Coordinator & Performance Coach and support practitioners to develop athletes at different points on the pathway and help them to flourish in their running and study, and to promote St Mary’s as a destination of choice for talented runners.
The post of Assistant Performance Coach will deliver an excellent level of coaching that fulfils sport strategic outcomes and the university corporate plan and will meet all required statutory regulations.
You will hold at least a UK Athletics Level 2 qualification or significant experience of coaching athletes at a national level, have understanding and awareness of modern coaching techniques and practices suited to student athletes. You will know how to effectively plan, monitor and review training plans and coaching sessions.

Good time management skills: able to take responsibility and to work independently and flexibly to prioritise workloads, work to deadlines and meet targets.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and plan workload effectively ensuring targets are met.
Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences.
Proficient IT skills using Microsoft Office packages.
Willingness to work flexible hours as and when required.
