The University of Liverpool is committed to enhancing workforce diversity. We actively seek to attract, develop, and retain colleagues with diverse backgrounds and perspectives. We welcome applications from all genders/gender identities, Black, Asian, or Minority Ethnic backgrounds, individuals living with a disability, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Arising from a period of leave for a colleague, the Department of Geography and Planning wishes to recruit a University Teacher in Geographic Data Science (Quantitative Human Geography) commencing January 2025.

The School of Environmental Science is comprised of two departments: Department of Geography and Planning and the Department of Earth, Ocean and Ecological Sciences. We are looking for a candidate whose teaching expertise and experience encompasses geographic data science (human geography). The candidates research and teaching should align with Geographic Data Science Lab (GDSL) research group and links to other research groups across the school. We are especially interested in applicants with teaching and research expertise in Geographic Information Science (GIS), the application of geographic data science, and one or more of the following priority areas: retail and consumer data, population, health, human mobility, transport, and spatial inequalities. The candidate would have responsibility for coordinating and delivering modules that span Geographic Data Science amongst other duties (e.g. tutorials, field teaching).

We particularly welcome applications from scholars who identify with groups who continue to be underrepresented and who face barriers to inclusion in higher education. We believe that a diverse and supportive environment, bringing different perspectives to our work and allowing people to blossom is the best platform for excellent teaching.
