The University of Glasgow has been changing the world for more than 570 years, and today we are delighted to rank in the top 100 of universities worldwide in both the Times Higher Education and QS World University Rankings.
Our people have always been at the forefront of innovation, and our past achievements inspire our current world changers. A fantastic new opportunity has arisen for a People and Organisational Development Business Partner to join the University’s Human Resources function (known internally as People and Organisational Development or P&OD). As a member of our P&OD team, you'll play a crucial role in fostering an environment where talent thrives and innovation flourishes.
About the role
In this role, you will provide advice and support for a range of People and OD services.
We have two positions available – one within University Services and one within the College of Social Sciences – however your role may move to a different area within the wider P&OD team at a future date, depending on emerging business need.
You will work with leaders and managers to facilitate and influence the delivery of the people agenda and local ‘people’ related initiatives within your area, offering professional and high-quality advice, support, and coaching, in order to foster sound decision-making and build local management capability in relation to the handling of people management issues.
Collaborating with senior colleagues across the People and Organisational Development (P&OD) team, you will play a key role in identifying, proposing, and implementing people-focused solutions. These will include organisational design, workforce planning, and talent management initiatives that support the achievement of strategic goals at both local and institutional levels. You will also create and oversee action plans to ensure the successful delivery of these solutions, providing effective management and guidance throughout.
About you
With previous experience of providing high-quality advice and guidance on a range of people-related matters (including the application of HR policies), you will have a proven track record of delivery in an HR/P&OD role at a professional level, gained within a complex operating environment.
Building and maintaining effective client relationships and service delivery partnerships will be key to success in your role, therefore the ability to adopt a consultancy style, with a strategic HR business partnering approach, is essential. You will be a credible and confident communicator, with the ability to articulate and persuade clients at all levels within the University on a range of matters. You will also have the ability to draft accurate, concise, and comprehensive reports and letters, and convey complex information in an accessible way to varied staff groups and audiences.
The successful candidate will have experience in successfully handling an Employee Relations casework portfolio, including attendance management, performance management, discipline and grievance investigations and hearings.
Both posts are full time (35 hours per week, Monday- Friday) and open-ended (permanent). Relocation assistance will be provided where appropriate.
Informal enquiries should be directed via email to Tracy Bryant Shaw Tracy.Bryant-Shaw@glasgow.ac.uk or Angela Loy Angela.Loy@glasgow.ac.uk
