Applications are invited for the role of research associate in epidemiology.

The project in which you will be working forms part of the activities of the ReCITE: Building Research by Communities to Address Inequities Through Expression project. Working as part of the quantitative research evaluation work package led by Dr Dan Hungerford at the University of Liverpool, you will take shared responsibility for analysis of immunisation uptake and cancer screening data for Liverpool City Region. You will also work on methodological evaluation of alternative approaches to analysis for real world vaccine evaluations. This is an exciting project with priority focus on health equity, which aims to have direct impact on the health of underserved communities. 

You will be working with an experienced multidisciplinary team within the University of Liverpool: Dr Dan Hungerford at the Department of Clinical Infection, Microbiology and Immunology, Professor Mark Green in the Department of Geography and Planning and Dr Nina Zhang in the Department of Public Health, Policy & Systems. Your wider team will comprise collaborative working the ReCITE team led by Professor Miriam Taegtmeyer (Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine). 

We are seeking motivated and able candidates with an excellent track record in epidemiology/heath data science and/or public health, familiar with a broad range of statistical techniques and who have the communication and collaborative skills to work effectively in a consortium and community focused environment.  

For a Grade 7 Research Associate you should hold a Master’s degree or above (e.g. PhD) with equivalent work experience in a relevant field such as the health protection or public health analytics and be familiar with a broad range of statistical techniques. A PhD, MD or equivalent in epidemiology or health data science or other relevant quantitative science and prior experience of UK routine healthcare datasets or research datasets such as CPRD would be desirable. 

The position is available on a fixed term basis, either full time or 0.8FTE until 31 January 2027 with possible extension
