About the Role
For informal enquiries, please contact Andy Metcalfe (Professor of Trauma and Orthopaedics and Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon) at A.Metcalfe@warwick.ac.uk.
Warwick Medical School (WMS) is seeking to appoint a clinical professor or clinical associate professor of Trauma and Orthopaedics (T&O) as part of our vision to expand our research portfolio in partnership with University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be employed by the University of Warwick and will hold an Honorary Consultant contract with University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW). Clinical sessions will be undertaken at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire where you will provide specialist services in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery, and provide a sub-speciality service as agreed with the Clinical Director.
At WMS we have established research programmes in Discovery Science and Applied Health alongside the Warwick Clinical Trials Unit – one of the largest in the UK. We strive to be innovative, bold, interdisciplinary, and inspiring, while ensuring a positive research culture and an advocacy for open science.
T&O has a long history of success at Warwick, with >£10M external research funding over the past decade and multiple papers in world leading journals (e.g. Lancet, JAMA, BMJ), with demonstrable impact and research collaborations across the university (such as WMG, WBS). Our T&O translational research programme will build on existing strengths, networks, and reputation for orthopaedics trials activity. We are seeking to grow a portfolio of clinically important research and trials work including innovative approaches to clinical or translational research, alongside our established NIHR and research council funding streams.
The role will be based at our purpose-built institute at UHCW, the Clinical Sciences Research Laboratory (CSRL), and at the Warwick Medical School campus.
