Scholars School System, a project of UK CURRICULUM & ACCREDITATION BODY (UKCAB, a registered charity founded in 2006), is seeking an Associate Dean for Student Success, Placements, and Alumni across all campuses, including Birmingham, Manchester, London, Bradford, and Leicester, based in the Birmingham campus.

Purpose:

Scholars School System seeks an Associate Dean that will oversee the operational management and strategic development of the Department of Student Success, Placements, and Alumni. This role focuses on integrating support for employability, career guidance, and alumni engagement initiatives to foster holistic student development and successful professional transitions.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and oversee programs enhancing students' employability skills and career aspirations.
  2. Cultivate an interconnected alumni community through collaboration, networking, and mentorship programs.
  3. Lead the student Placement Team at each campus and manage the Employability and Placement Manager.
  4. Collaborate with senior management, other HEIs, and external stakeholders to implement effective policies and procedures.
  5. Establish efficient processes for Student Success staff across all campuses.
  6. Lead strategic planning, including policy review, goal setting, and initiative development (aligned with OFS B3 criteria).
  7. Maintain clear communication regarding Student Success services and address concerns and feedback.
  8. Promote student success and initiate extra-curricular programs as part of the Senior Management team.
  9. Chair committee meetings and undertake additional relevant responsibilities.

Role Requirements:

  • PhD in Higher Education or related field
  • Proven leadership experience in academic administration, including supervisory roles
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Experience in diverse higher education environments and commitment to racial equity
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

Strategic:

  • Develop SSS career services strategy aligned with Office for Students B3 Conditions
  • Ensure 60% of graduates proceed to further study, professional employment, or other positive outcomes within 15 months of graduation

Departmental:

  • Achieve >85% high-skilled placements for Level 4 students
  • Achieve >90% high-skilled placements for Level 5 students
  • Organize one Alumni event per year per campus
  • Organize one Employability event per year per campus
  • Engage at least one Alumnus per campus in mentoring/collaborative and networking events annually

Personal/Role-based:

  • Establish a network of 50 employers or organizations for potential collaborations

Benefits:

  • 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Up to £5k annual incentives pro-rata given quarterly upon meeting KPIs after successful probation
  • 3% annual salary increase on completion of each year of service and meeting KPIs

The Associate Dean will play a pivotal role in shaping students' career trajectories and strengthening the institution's reputation through effective placement and alumni engagement initiatives.
