A bit about Marketing, Recruitment and External Relations…
We are responsible for the core range of activities that promote and engage with our external environment and stakeholders. This includes both prospective and current students, businesses and our local community. Made up of Marketing and Communications, Student Recruitment and Widening Participation and External Relations teams, we work together to plan and deliver key activities that support the University’s ambitions for growth, diversity and an increased profile.
The Student Recruitment and Widening Participation Team is a busy team whose core focus is the provision of information, advice and guidance to prospective students to help inform their decision-making about higher education. We work in partnership with a wide range of people across the University in the delivery of that information and guidance. So, what will the role involve?
This role sits in the Widening Participation Team, who provide events and projects for young people from schools and colleges around Greater Manchester to raise aspirations and attainment. The team look to address educational inequality in the region, by targeting certain learner groups who are underrepresented in HE, or who experience barriers to accessing university, through these activities.
The WP Officer Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the operational delivery of events and activities as part of the WP programme. This might include campus visits, workshops and talks in schools, projects and summer schools. The role will also be responsible for leading on the recruitment of our student ambassador cohort, and running activities for Primary aged learners. The role will support the team with more sustained projects and develop their specialist knowledge for engaging groups who are underrepresented in higher education.
As a WP Coordinator, an overarching key aspect of the role is to contribute to our thinking and be challenging on how Salford can transform the way it addresses equity disparities, embraces diversity and becomes more inclusive.
Come and join our dynamic, enthusiastic and caring team, who enjoy working closely with colleagues from Salford and beyond, to improve social mobility and educational outcomes of learners in schools or community settings.
When completing the application, please aim to address the key elements of the person specification in the application questions.
