Exeter Innovation

This new full-time post is available immediately on a fixed-term basis for four years, subject to funding agreements. The role offers the opportunity for hybrid working. We welcome applications from candidates interested in working part-time hours or job-sharing arrangements.

Summary of the role

This post entails organising and integrating research and industrial activity and operations across an extensive critical minerals research centre led by Professor Frances Wall, and includes significant industry and civic partner engagement.

This Centre has been created in partnership with SW England businesses, local government and other organisations who have committed considerable time and resources to the proposed research and innovation. The activities of the Centre will help to implement the UK critical minerals strategy by accelerating commercialisation of projects for domestic production of critical minerals, and expanding the associated industry cluster that is already operating worldwide to enhance mineral production. It forms the core of a wider academic-industry University of Exeter initiative to form a Critical Minerals Centre of Excellence.

The post-holder will contribute to the strategic development of the Centre, work very closely with other Exeter Innovation team members leading commercialisation, partner engagement and policy and communications; work across Professional Services divisions to ensure proper project operations and accounting; support equitable partnerships across multiple geographical locations and co-ordinate events, budgets and reporting across diverse groups of stakeholders working within the project’s ethical and equality focused ethos.

The post is based in the Exeter Innovation division and will work closely with colleagues in the Camborne School of Mines (CSM), as well as other colleagues in sustainable finance, circular economy, social sciences and ecology.
