You will have expertise in research connecting oceanography and marine biology, and be a highly motivated and dynamic academic who seeks the opportunity to build a career in a University with an international reputation in marine biology. While we are particularly interested in those specializing in deep-sea or plankton research, applicants from other areas are also welcome.

In this role, you will deliver dynamic, research-informed teaching and be driven to achieve excellence in your field of study. The ability to contribute to residential overseas field courses is highly desirable.

Candidates should hold a doctoral degree in a relevant discipline, with postdoctoral (or equivalent) experience and a promising research track record linking oceanography and marine biology. Prior teaching experience, suited to a Lecturer (Grade 7) position, is preferred (refer to the job description for specific responsibilities and criteria).

At the University of Plymouth, we are committed to advancing knowledge and transforming lives through education and research. In your supporting statement, please demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria outlined in the job description regarding knowledge, qualifications, training, and experience.

The Marine Biology group comprises 22 academics working over a broad range of areas including: animal behaviour, fish ecology, ecophysiology, microplastics, coral chemical ecology, marine conservation, biogeography, marine mammals and anthropogenic impacts on marine systems. Our facilities include a Marine Station with a commercial diving unit and multiple research vessels, sea water aquaria and controlled temperature facilities, molecular and ecophysiology labs, scanning electron microscopy suite with multiple imaging systems (e.g. FIB, SEM, TEM, AFM), wave basins, and tilting flumes.
