We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Information Studies (Archives) within the School of Humanities with a start date as soon as possible. 

The subject has a record of innovative research and teaching, working closely with local, national and international libraries, archives, museums, galleries and professional bodies and we are looking for outstanding candidates to help fulfil our strategic vision to 'empower the human in information worlds'. Information Studies provides a supportive, interdisciplinary, and collegial environment and has had an excellent performance in the REF exercise and periodic review of its teaching. Applications are welcome from across the spectrum of Information Studies or Digital Humanities. 

Our research aligns with the University’s research strategy (https://www.gla.ac.uk/research/strategy/ourstrategy/) and prioritises collaboration, creativity and careers. The subject has strengths in digital cultural heritage, museum studies, and information management, including the use and application of AI. Prospective postholders should have a developing research profile in archives studies and be able to demonstrate the relevance of their research to the professional sector as well as its academic credentials. They will undertake research of international excellence and contribute to knowledge exchange activities relative to the discipline. 

They will contribute to delivery of an excellent student experience through learning and teaching and administration of CILIP, ARA and IRMS accredited courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. They should demonstrate their experience and ability to teach, and in time to convene courses on the current Masters programme in Archives, Records & Information Management (including Records and Evidence; Introduction to Digital Curation; Description, Cataloguing and Navigation) and the new Masters programme in Library & Information Studies, as well as contributing to the team-taught undergraduate programme Digital Media & Information Studies.

They will undertake administration and service activities in line with the strategic objectives of the Subject/School and College. They will have early opportunities to take on substantive roles within the subject, including supervising our growing number of post-graduate research students. 

This post is full time (35 hrs per week) and open ended.
