About the role:

The Pure Mathematics Section in the Department of Mathematics is seeking applications for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer position starting October 1st 2025, or as soon as possible thereafter. Further information can be found in the Departmental website.

What you would be doing:

The post holder will work in an area of Pure Mathematics. They will undertake a self-directed program of research and scholarship at a level commensurate with the current standards of excellence in the Department of Mathematics and Imperial College. The role will involve lecturing undergraduate and post-graduate courses, supervising PhD students, and managing staff such as Research Associates. The successful candidate will promote the reputation of the Department, and the College, through scientific meetings and other activities.

What we are looking for:

  • A PhD (or equivalent) in Mathematics or a closely related discipline
  • The appointee will be able to demonstrate their ability to produce independent research and will have developed the skills to take a more active role in teaching and supervision.
  • Research interests in an area of Pure Mathematics.
  • The ability to conduct a personal research programme at the highest level
  • An excellent record of research, evidenced by a portfolio of research publications commensurate with career stage
  • Experience, or clear potential, of teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level across a range of subjects in Pure Mathematics
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with the broad range of research expertise in the Department of Mathematics, bringing together mathematical links to develop an exemplary research programme
