Starting salary from £30,505 per annum, dependent on skills and experience, with an annual increment up to £36,924 per annum.

Norwich CTU is a UKCRC Registered Clinical Trials Unit, based at the University of East Anglia in the East of England. We support a large number of Clinical Research Projects across a broad range of clinical disciplines and interventions including multicentre randomised drug, device, and complex intervention trials. To support this work, we employ clinical trial managers and coordinators, data programmers, statisticians, health economists, epidemiologists research associates and methodologists.

As a Unit, we have a very diverse and expanding research portfolio. We currently undertake research in the fields of cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, diabetes, neurology, oncology, smoking cessation, CFS, dementia, musculoskeletal, mental health and care and health service improvement.

We have a vacancy for a Research Associate to join our team to support the INHALE Programme Development Grant (PDG). INHALE was an NIHR funded Programme Grant investigating the role of rapid diagnostics in the management of hospital-acquired pneumonia and antibiotic stewardship.

This multi-faceted research programme included a laboratory evaluation, a Randomised Controlled Trial (RCT), along with health economic and behavioural science research.

The results of the trial were somewhat unexpected, and this has led to the INHALE PDG project to consider further analyses and data collection with the aim of better understanding the results of the trial and informing the design and development of new research.

You would be supporting the co-ordination of the project, collecting and analysing clinical and microbiological data and assisting in the dissemination of the results.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with experience of research in an academic setting, and with an interest in clinical trials / medical microbiology / antimicrobials, who has excellent communication and team working skills with a keen eye for detail, to join an established CTU.

A degree of remote working is possible.

You will have a degree (or equivalent professional qualification) and / or equivalent experience in academic research.

The post is available immediately on a full-time basis for a fixed term period until 31 July 2025.

Further information on our great benefits package, including 44 days annual leave inclusive of Bank Holidays and additional University Customary days can be found on our benefits page.

Closing date: 21 October 2024

We strongly encourage applicants from Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic backgrounds and welcome applications from all protected groups as defined by the Equality Act 2010. Appointment will be made on merit.

The University holds an Athena Swan Silver Institutional Award in recognition of our advancement towards gender equality.
