ABOUT US

Transforming lives through excellent education

London Met is an extraordinary institution. Equity and social inclusion have always been our driving principles, and it's what makes the University so unique. Our organisation is distinctive, both in its eclectic and diverse community of students and staff, and also for its historical role in serving some of London’s most deprived boroughs. Everything we do is underpinned by our philosophy that an individual should have the opportunity to transform their life through the power of education.

Equipping our students with the tools for their future is at the heart of our academic offering. We pride ourselves on providing our students with access to a wealth of opportunities and professions. Our graduates benefit personally, but also contribute their unique perspectives to society, culture, public service and the economy in all areas of London, the UK and around the world.

You will be joining the highly successful Initial Teacher Education (ITE) team, working with local schools to train the Secondary Maths the future and to inspire the next generation of children in Greater London schools and nationally.

ABOUT THE POST

An opportunity has arisen to contribute to the School’s highly respected Secondary PGCE pathways as an Associate lecturer, supporting the Senior Lecturer & Course Leader of the PGCE Secondary courses.

The role will suit a Secondary Maths or Secondary Media specialist taking on the role of link tutor to a small group of trainees and working with school-based mentors in our partner schools.

You will be a highly experienced Secondary Maths or Media teacher with QTS, able to supervise trainees in school placements, undertake assessment observations and to monitor their progress in person and online. You will also have experience of mentoring trainees and/or leading others and considerable, wide-ranging experience in the Secondary Science classroom.

You will have a strong commitment to the University’s values, mission and strategic plan; a “coaching and developing” approach when dealing with colleagues and students; and working collegially; valuing the contribution of others and sharing knowledge and expertise.

The School recognises the positive value of diversity and difference and we strongly welcome job applications from people of all backgrounds and are keen to ensure the teaching workforce is more representative of London Met's diverse student population. Applications are welcome from candidates with appropriate qualifications and experience.

This post will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

There is considerable flexibility in the posts working schedule within the standard working day/week.

Closing Date: 14 October 2024

Interview details to be confirmed at the shortlisting stage by the School recruiter contacts
